***** Bijou Blast LP Giveaway *****

I’m so bloody lucky! Recently the wraps have been getting better and better and more and more exciting here. I love getting to try them out, tell you all about them, give them to you all as a big thank you for supporting my page and helping me to reach so many people. You guys are brilliant and we are making a difference. I get so many messages from people who have tried and loved babywearing after seeing this page that prove that.

Bijou (pronounced bee'-zhew) is the nickname that the owner, Jaime, and her husband gave to their son. It is French, meaning jewel, little and elegant, or precious little thing. I like the name. I had heard the word lot’s before but never really knew what in meant. I think it suits a wrap brand.

Here’s a little about the company in their own words,

“In order for a business to share time with my family, it has to be right from the very start. I strive to add value to the babywearing community. I pay my business associates what they are worth. I seek out eco-friendly yarns and products. I contribute to a meaningful charity.”

Bijou Wear gives a portion of all of their profits to The Carrying On Project. TCOP is an amazing charity and I love the work they are doing. They provide baby carriers to military family members to foster attachment under trying circumstances, such as a parent being away for long periods and possibly missing the birth of a child, and for the family that are home while they are gone. When I think of how much babywearing helped me to bond with my children, knowing that the longest time I was ever away from them was a 12hr night shift, I think giving these families carriers and the help and support to enable them to use them safely is huge. So far TCOP have donated 2000 carriers and are continuing to give more daily.

Ok, that is a very long intro for the review. Thank you for reading it though. You may have guessed already but I’m quite excited about Bijou already. I was even before I received the wrap… and when it got here the excitement multiplied. It is brilliant.

The wrap is a 55/45% mix of cotton and a tencel. I had never tried tencel before and was so curious to do so. Tencel is made from wood pulp! A wrap made out of trees... I think that's brilliant. And because the process uses less water and energy to make than cotton it is a really Eco friendly fibre. Trees! Responsibly harvested and sustainable trees at that. Bijou are also using repreve blends and are the first company to use Eco2cotton, a yarn made of recycled cotton products.

The wrap is 305gsm, but it feels so much thinner than that. It’s really soft and mouldable and has an amazing drape to it, which makes it great and easy to use. It feels very light and I think it would be great for the warm weather (which we have had very little of recently so I can’t fully back that up but I’m pretty confident).

Blast LP’s softness is to the point where it glides really easily and makes wrapping a pleasure. It would be great for people that are just starting to learn how to wrap. The way it glides and wraps so easily is partly because it doesn’t have a great deal of grip, or at least it doesn’t feel like it does, but it doesn’t slip about once tied and it knots really tight. It also knots quite big, maybe giving more evidence of its 300gsm+ weight when tying off then at any other time. I find big knots OK most of the time but they can be a bit tricky for carries that tie under the child’s bottom.

The design is so cool. Very different to anything else I’ve seen. I’m not 100% sure what the pattern is meant to be, if anything, but it reminds me of an image from the film 2001 a Space Odyssey, and that really excited my not to secret film nerd side. I would love to have a conversion of this and have a few astronauts dotted about on it. (I will put a picture of what I’m talking about in the comments so you can look and go “yeah… kind of… weirdo”).

This wrap goes on sale on Tuesday the 4th of August, and is priced at $165 for a size 6, so that’s about £110 in my money.

But if you want to try and win this size 6 for yourself then please do a few things for me.
